Executives Meet to Promote and Guide Texas A&M Industrial Distribution Program COLLEGE STATION – More than 20 executives from numerous prestigious and well-known industrial distribution, manufacturing firms, and trade associations converged in College Station last week to discuss the Texas A&M University Industrial Distribution (ID) Program and its continuing contribution to industry. During the meeting, companies discussed the value of the ID program, its students and research to the distribution industry. Company executives gave feedback on program enhancements and strategic directions. Companies participating in the advisory board for 2004 include: Associated Equipment Distributors; Airgas, Core Purpose, Inc; Crawford Electric Supply; Elliott Electric Supply; EPSCO International, Inc.; Gases and Welding Distributors Association; Graybar; House of Forgings, Inc.; HISCO; Hydraquip Corporation; Industrial Supply Association; National Electronic Distributors Association; Power Transmission Distributors Association; Prelude Systems, Inc.; Rawson LP; Rockwell Automation; SunSource; TTI, Inc.; and The Reynolds Company. Created in 1956, the Industrial Distribution Program at Texas A&M University (TAMU) is viewed by industry as the #1 industrial distribution program in the United States and the world. Industrial distribution combines business and engineering disciplines. It is the efficient movement of products from the point of manufacture to the point of use. Industrial distribution graduates pursue careers in a variety of areas such as technical sales, consulting, management, and logistics. Students are successful finding jobs with a placement rate reaching 100%. Recently, the ID program has expanded its reach internationally with new initiatives in Mexico and China. In addition to the undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Industrial Distribution degree, TAMU also offers an Executive Master of Industrial Distribution online degree program. The ID program also offers professional development seminars, customized seminars, a Certificate in Distribution Sales, and a Certificate in Distribution Management through the Thomas and Joan Read Center for Distribution Research and Education.
