Scholarships

Overall Requirements

A number of scholarships are available specifically to students pursuing a degree in Industrial Distribution (ID). Students must have Industrial Distribution as their declared major, have a minimum 2.5 overall GPA and be a student in good standing at Texas A&M University.

Application for all program scholarships can be found at Scholarships. Information for continuing students is given in the next section.

Continuing Student Scholarship Application

Opens – October 15 of every year

Deadline – February 1 of every year

Applications are being accepted for all 2017-2018 IDIS Scholarships. Complete a Scholarship Application found at Scholarships.

  1. The application will be rejected without review if not fully complete.
  2. For students who are applying for financial need based scholarships, FASFA is mandatory.
  3. The information that is submitted on your application will only be considered. Future changes that affect your application requirements will be neglected.

Projected scholarships, amounts, and information are listed on this linked spreadsheet as well as on the ID website. All scholarships, including any scholarships not listed, relative to 2015-2016 will be based on completing an application through this process.

Richard R. Boehck ’65 Endowed Scholarship in Industrial Distribution

Mr. Richard Boehck is a former student of the Industrial Distribution Program and established the scholarship in honor of his mother.
Minimum Requirements:

  • 2.5+ GPR
  • Demonstrates Academic Achievement
  • Demonstrates Extra Curricular Achievement

George and Frieda Soutter Endowed Scholarship

Mrs. Frieda Soutter established the scholarship as a part of her legacy. She sought to reward excellence in academic achievement and leadership in students of Industrial Distribution.
Minimum Requirements:

  • 3.5+ GPR
  • Demonstrates Leadership Qualities

Thomas and Joan Read Industrial Distribution Endowed Scholarship

In 1982, the late Mr. Thomas Read and his wife, Joan Read, generously established an endowment to support scholarship in various areas including members of the Crops of Cadets and students pursuing their degrees in Kinesiology or Industrial Distribution. After more than twenty years, this scholarship continues to offer tremendous support to many students at Texas A&M. The requirements below are considered of equal importance in the selection process.

  • Substantial Involvement in TAMU activities
  • Gives to Community/Volunteerism
  • Seen as a Role Model for Youth

Industry Interest


Victor and Gene Jury Scholarship

Mr. Victor Jury, Jr. established the scholarship in honor of his parents Victor and Gene. Jury and Summit Electric Supply Co. continue to support excellence in the Industrial Distribution program.
Minimum Requirements:

  • 2.5+ GPR
  • Desire to Enter Field of Industrial Distribution

James M. Berkendorfer Endowed Scholarship

Mr. Leonard Bruce and Vallen Corporation created this endowed scholarship in honor of Mr. Benkendorfer ’52 who was praised for fostering the highest standards of ethics and integrity in the field of Industrial Distribution.
Minimum Requirements:

  • 2.5+ GPR
  • US Citizen
  • Expresses High Understanding of Field and Desire to Enter Field of Industrial Distribution

Specialty Tools and Fasteners Distributors Association Scholarship (www.stafda.org)

STFDA has been funding scholarships to Industrial Distribution students since 1988. The scholarships are intended for students with an interest in the specialty tool industry.
Minimum Requirements:

  • 2.5+ GPR
  • Interest in the Specialty Tools Industry

Financial Need


Sterling Electronics/M. Spolane Scholarship

Mr. Ron Spolane established the scholarship in memory of his father, Michael Spolane. The award supports upper class students in ID with demonstrated financial need and academic potential.

  • 2.5+ GPR
  • Junior Status
  • US Citizen
  • Exhibits Financial Need

Scholarship (GPA)


John Schoen Family Scholarship

Mabel Schoen endowed the John W. Schoen Family Scholarship as a tribute to her late husband, a manufacturing executive and owner of several distribution companies specializing in construction equipment and trucks. Their son, John E. Schoen a former senior lecturer in the engineering technology department said that quality and strong work ethic characterized his father’s life in the community as well as on the job. These are the qualities they seek to reward in students in the ID department.

  • 2.75+ GPR
  • Junior or Senior Status
  • Desire to Enter Field of Industrial Distribution

Jacob Rebecek ’02 Memorial Scholarship in Industrial Distribution

The parents of Jacob “Jake” Rebecek ’02 established the scholarship to be awarded to one outstanding Industrial Distribution student who excels academically each year.
Minimum Requirements:

  • 3.0+ GPR
  • Junior Status
  • Desire to Enter Field of Industrial Distribution

James McCaine ’78 Memorial Scholarship

The family of James McCaine ’78 established a memorial scholarship fund in 1979, with the intent of giving back to the department and school that their son had been so very proud of. The scholarship funds are primarily awarded to incoming freshmen students majoring in Industrial Distribution.

  • Incoming Freshman
  • Highest GPR of Incoming Freshmen

Molenco Moncrief-Lenior Scholarship

This scholarship is intended for incoming freshmen students that have exhibited potential for academic excellence and demonstrate financial need.
