Undergraduate Global Supply Chain Laboratory |
The undergraduate GSCL is a university/industry partnership laboratory developed to bring cutting edge industrial application software to industrial distribution classrooms at Texas A&M University. Currently at Texas A&M, students learn concepts such as supply chain planning, customer relationship management, inventory forecasting, warehousing, transportation management and sales order processing through lecture sessions demonstrating the importance of connecting information flows in the supply chain. Concurrently, each week they experience hands-on training and problem solving in application software through the lab sessions. This process, combined with case studies and a class project greatly enhances the student's knowledge and learning experience. We also conduct sessions based on the online beer distribution game forecasting and inventory stratification tools developed by the Global Supply Chain Laboratory. The exercises and case studies developed for this lab are available upon request. Over the last three years the lab has received more than a million dollars in funding from more than 6 technology providers in the form of hardware, software, training and support services.
